Independent 20th Century
Artwork
At Independent 20th Century, Salon 94 will present works by Dorothy Salhab Kazemi, Huguette Caland, and Afaf Zurayk. Among the first generation of female modernists in Lebanon, these three artists each engaged abstraction as a means of navigating changing social structures, evolving notions of femininity, and interior life. Together, their work brings into focus distinct yet intersecting approaches to modernism shaped by personal experience and broader political transformation.
