In June 1981, Niki de Saint Phalle described her lamps as "objects to be tamed." The three works on display — including Ω (Omega), a monumental collaboration with Pierre-Marie Lejeune — show light as a recurring subject: the functional object as inhabited figure, the source of light as the body of a goddess. Saint Phalle never treated her work as objects to be contemplated; she spent decades building spaces people could enter, sit inside, live within.
